Frequently Asked Questions

  • A hybrid program offers families structured classes within a school setting that complement at-home education and offer families an educational community. Our classes do not cover all academic subjects, though many disciplines are engaged to varying degrees. For example, we offer math games/ drills on Friday, but students will complete a full math curriculum at home that is independent of what we offer and chosen by parents.   • Our curriculum and methodology draw upon both Charlotte Mason and Classical approaches in order to foster learning in the context of the Orthodox faith and holistic growth for students.

    We highly recommend the following book: Patterns for Life: An Orthodox Reflection on Charlotte Mason Education

  • While agreeing to respect the academy’s statement of faith is part of the application process, students are not required to be Orthodox to participate. We invite any family interested in our community to apply.

  • Holy Archangels exists to offer focused academic instruction and a community in which to grow spiritually and build friendships. Because this is a homeschool hybrid program, parents are responsible for directing the education of their children, maintaining records, and complying with Florida homeschooling laws. We do not award grades, though we may offer constructive feedback. Wednesday is a drop-off program, though parents are encouraged to stay for morning prayer and may offer to volunteer. Friday’s program requires that parents participate alongside their children.

  • In this initial year, we expect classes to be no more than 10 students, providing a small group setting and a low teacher-to-student ratio.

  • We are direct pay providers through the Step Up for Students (PEP) program. Homeschooling students who have been awarded the PEP scholarship may allocate scholarship funds toward tuition through the EMA Marketplace.

    Families may request information about need-based scholarships, which will be offered on an individual basis. Payment plans are also available.

  • Yes, there will be dress code requirements, including a school polo for K-8th students. This intentionality in clothing prepares students for the orderly behavior and focus that will be expected of them as students. Additionally, because morning prayer occurs within the temple, less casual attire is appropriate.

  • We aim to use technology intentionally, yet sparingly within the dominant context of face-to face interactions and physical materials. Students will not use phones, laptops, or other devices, unless there is an elective that requires technological use.

  • In the future we hope to add high school classes, including a Great Books program. At this point high school students are invited to participate in the Friday Morning Program, focused on spiritual formation. Please contact the school for more information if you do not also have a K-8th student participating at that time.
