Holy Archangels Academy is a 2-day homeschool hybrid program rooted in the Orthodox faith.
Mission
Holy Archangels Academy exists to nurture children within the Orthodox Christian faith and to integrate the spiritual and academic aspects of life in community with other homeschooling families.
Vision
To support homeschooling families by offering academically excellent classes that complement at-home instruction, and by providing an ordered environment that fosters virtue and diligence, and inclines the affections toward God, in part, by a pursuit of the Good, True, and Beautiful.
Our Story
Holy Archangels is named such in the hopes of modeling the formation of our youth to be messengers of the LORD in a world that deeply needs His Gospel message, and doing so in an angelic manner - perfectly aligned to His will and not our own. This community began in 2024 as a half-day priest and parent-led catechesis program at St. Paul Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church. The co-op continued to expand as the number of homeschool families desiring an Orthodox education for their children grew, ultimately leading to the formation of Holy Archangels Orthodox Academy in 2026.
Metropolitan Saba provides helpful guidance on the task of education when he writes
“Saints Basil the Great, John Chrysostom, Gregory the Theologian, and Maximus the Confessor, to name but a few, possessed brilliant minds and a high level of worldly culture. But this intellectual aspect was not separate from an enlightened heart enriched by the Holy Spirit. They were authentic teachers, and at the same time, they were sanctified by the grace of the Holy Spirit. …It is essential to remember this point because we are always susceptible to being drawn to one extreme or the other. We see currents that emphasize knowledge and others that emphasize a life of piety. The Fathers were not extreme in either direction, but gave each side its due, teaching that virtue lies in the middle ground between two extremes. Thus, the requirement of holiness was present among them alongside the requirement of secular knowledge.”
